The winter cold continues in much of Spain. For this Wednesday, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) expects a drop in temperatures in the southeast and the Pyrenees. The minimums will also drop in the southern half, eastern third and Alborán.

This will mean that temperatures will continue below 10 degrees in areas of the northern half of the peninsula and that it will snow abundantly in the Pyrenees, in addition to registering frost in mountainous areas.

Thermometers will reflect less than 10 degrees in the mountain systems of the peninsula and nearby areas. The coldest capitals will be Segovia (7 degrees) and Ávila, Burgos and Soria (9), while it will be warmer in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (26), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (25) and Murcia and Valencia (22).

In addition, the weather this Wednesday will be marked by the wind. The agency has activated warnings in places in nine provinces spread across four autonomous communities due to wind or rough seas. There is an orange warning (significant risk) in the Huesca and Lleida Pyrenees for very strong gusts of 100 km/h, and the coasts of Mallorca (except the south) and Menorca for waves of four to six meters.

The rest of the warnings are yellow level, in some cases for gusts of 70 to 80 km/h in Barcelona (pre-Pyrenees), Castellón (northern interior), Girona, Huesca (Pyrenees) and Lleida (Aran Valley), Tarragona ( southern prelittoral).

The snow level will be 1400/1600 meters, dropping to 1000/1200 m in the Pyrenees, where 5 centimeters and even 10-15 cm could accumulate in the Aran Valley.

Otherwise, stable weather is expected throughout the country, with cloudiness early in the day in the Iberian and Central systems, tending to decrease throughout the day, except in the western Cantabrian and Pyrenees, where they will be somewhat more abundant and persistent.

For Thursday and Friday, Aemet predicts a new drop in thermometers. During Thursday, minimum temperatures will continue to decline and frost will spread throughout the eastern interior of the peninsula. On Friday and during the weekend, the night frosts will be repeated, although with a tendency for temperatures to rise in this final stretch of the week.
