Reports claim that an 11-year-old girl was shot and killed by her father on Saturday while hunting in Texas.

At 5:15 p.m., the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call about a “hunting accident”. Later, it was determined that the girl had been hit with a high-powered rifle shot. A statement obtained by the Longview News-Journal was read.

Emergency crews located the girl, identified as Daisy Grace Lynn George (6th grade), with life-threatening injuries. According to the report, emergency crews requested a helicopter to transport her to the hospital. However, poor weather prevented the fleet from flying. She was taken to a nearby hospital and declared dead.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death.
