New report shows that more than 350,000 schoolchildren are still without education after Russia invades Ukraine.

Millions of people around the globe have seen distressing videos and images documenting these scenes, as Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine.
According to UNICEF’s
recently published report, this invasion has prevented more than 350,000 children from accessing education. This report calls for donations of more than $66 million to help provide basic services to Ukrainians.

According to the report, in total six educational facilities have been damaged in the country, and schools in “non-government-controlled areas” have been closed since early last week. According to the Ministry of Education, 33 schools that have approximately 5,5000 students were closed in order to allow in-person learning due “insecurity in areas near the line of contact.”

“The protracted conflict in east Ukraine continues to have a significant impact on the lives of children, young people,” says the organization. “Leaving families on both ends of the contact line in dire need of humanitarian assistance.”

. The chief of communications for UNICEF stated that they are working across eastern Ukraine in order to provide emergency education and safe water supplies to as many people as possible.
