Two people also died in the Obolonskyi neighborhood of the capital, where Russian artillery fired on a nine-story apartment block. According to them, one person was killed and six more were injured in a Russian airstrike that struck the capital’s downtown on Monday.

An Russian airstrike hit a residence in Ukraine’s capital, killing at least one person and wounding many others. Russia claims it doesn’t attack civilians but its forces have increased their attacks on urban areas after Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion in Ukraine on February 24.

On Monday, another round of direct negotiations took place between Russian and Ukrainian officials. After several rounds of talks, both sides reported “substantial progress”, and there was even hope for an agreement in a matter days. The talks were held virtually for only the second time Monday. Mykhailo Podolyak, the Ukrainian presidential advisor, stated that there would be a technical pause in bilateral dialogue until Tuesday. He added: “Negotiations continue.”

Although the United Nations claims that at least 596 civilians have been killed since Russia invaded Ukraine in April 2014, it is certain that the true number is higher.
