Officer David Lee’s life was tragically cut short on September 22 while he was on duty at a crash site on I-70 eastbound near Grand Boulevard. The 24-year-old Ramon Chavez-Rodriguez, an undocumented immigrant who was allegedly driving under the influence, struck Officer Lee. Chavez-Rodriguez lost control of his vehicle while Lee was moving cones, resulting in Lee being pinned against his patrol car. Despite being rushed to the hospital and undergoing surgery, Officer Lee succumbed to his injuries. Chavez-Rodriguez is currently in custody and is facing charges for the incident.

Officer Lee dedicated 18 years of his life to serving with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. His sudden and tragic passing has left behind a wife and two children, who are now mourning the loss of their beloved husband and father.

The community’s support and presence at the funeral services are a testament to the impact Officer David Lee had on the St. Louis community. Let us come together to honor his memory and show our appreciation for his service and sacrifice. Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Lee’s family during this difficult time.
