Tips for disconnecting from social networks this summer

Social networks play a leading role in our lives, to the point that many people are hooked on them. According to data from the Digital Report Spain 2022 report, almost 41 million Spaniards are users of social networks. From the same study, it should be noted that users spend an average of 1 hour and 53 minutes a day on these platforms.

In our day to day, everyday acts such as sending whatsapps to your friends to tell them how your day has gone, looking at Instagram at lunch break or spending some time watching TikTok before going to bed are part of the routine. We are barely aware of the time this takes away from enjoying other activities.

But that’s not all, the use of these platforms also has an impact on our rest, our concentration, our performance and our emotional well-being. This is corroborated by a study published in the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking, which concluded that stopping using social networks for a week leads to significant improvements in well-being, depression and anxiety.

Therefore, facing your vacation this summer, it would be very beneficial if you were able to disconnect from social networks or, at least, reduce your consumption. So you can rest, enjoy the present moment, the destination you go to and the company, and reconnect with yourself.
