This is Zoom IQ, the new function that will summarize the meetings you have missed

Artificial intelligence technology is changing the way we learn, work and communicate. While many subject matter experts call for caution in its development, many companies are using it to improve their applications or services.

This is the case of the application to make video calls Zoom, which has just launched Zoom IQ. The company defines this function as an “intelligent companion that empowers collaboration and unlocks the potential of people through generative AI.” Among other advantages, it will allow you to recover the summary of a meeting that could not be attended.

Zoom IQ offers meeting hosts the option to automatically generate meeting summaries and, once finished, share them via Zoom Team Chat and email without recording the conversation. In this way it is not necessary to record the entire meeting on video to share it later.

“With the introduction of these new capabilities in Zoom IQ, an incredible generative AI assistant, teams can further improve their productivity for daily tasks, freeing up more time for creative work and expanding collaboration,” said Smita Hashim, Director of Zoom products. It should be noted that this feature is generally available to Zoom customers on select plans as free trials.

Zoom has taken advantage of the large language artificial intelligence models already patented for the big companies of this technology to develop its Zoom IQ, such as OpenAI and Anthropic. In this way, they believe that they will be able to provide “the maximum value for the diverse needs of their clients”, as the company pointed out in a statement.

Taking advantage of this technology, in Team Chat it will be possible to write texts from the context of a conversation thread; “As well as changing the tone and length of the message, as well as rephrasing responses to personalize text recommendations.” This is one more function that Zoom presents, as he has reported in the letter.

Zoom is working on new features. As far as meetings are concerned, they are developing queries, which will allow a user who is late for a meeting to catch up without “interrupting the flow of the meeting by discreetly sending a query via chat on the meeting and receive a generative AI-created summary of what they missed. The meeting queries function is expected to be generally available in the coming months.

The whiteboard draft is yet another proposal that they are preparing. With it, teams will be able to “get a set of initial ideas, simply by using text prompts.” It will also be possible to create a synthesis of these sessions by organizing the ideas into various categories thanks to the blackboard synthesis. The goal is for teams to streamline their work. It is also expected to be available in the coming months.
