WhatsApp began as an application used exclusively to exchange text messages with our contacts. However, over the years the messaging network has evolved to offer a wide variety of services.
Sending photos and videos, sharing files or uploading statuses are several of the most popular functions of WhatsApp, although there is one function that stands out above the rest: voice messages. This useful tool came to our smartphones in 2017, and now it presents a novelty: they can be heard only once.
The new WhatsApp function will allow you to listen to voice notes once, something similar to what the application already did in 2021 with photos and videos. This novelty adds extra privacy, since the voice note will be deleted from the chat after being listened to, without having the option to play it again, save it or forward it to our contacts.
When the new function becomes part of our smartphone, the process will be simple: when sending a voice note on WhatsApp, we will have the option to protect the message, making it “only heard once.”
To do this, it is necessary to use the hands-free mode of the WhatsApp recorder, sliding the microphone icon up until the recorder remains open permanently. After pressing the button (1), the audio message will be ephemeral.
Messages that are sent with this option will be displayed in the chat with the text (1) to identify them, making it clear that it will not be possible to reproduce them or know their duration, unless you open them. Likewise, it is worth knowing that they open in a separate window, which cannot be opened again after listening to the audio.
Luckily, while the window is open the user can listen to the audio as many times as they want, pausing the message, fast-forwarding it or playing it at a faster speed. Finally, this novelty is protected against unwanted screenshots and recordings.
