The tallest woman in the world, Rumeysa Gelgi, and the shortest woman in the world, Jyoti Amge, recently met for afternoon tea at the Savoy Hotel in London to celebrate Guinness World Records Day. Despite their significant height difference of 152.36 centimeters, they found common ground in their love for make-up, self-care, jewellery, and nail care.

Rumeysa Gelgi, a web designer from Turkey, holds several records in addition to being the tallest woman. She has Weaver syndrome, a rare condition that has only been diagnosed in 27 people worldwide. Her records include the largest hands on a woman, the longest back on a living person (female), and the longest ears on a person (female). Gelgi has been featured in a GWR documentary called “Rumeysa: Walking Tall,” showcasing her journey meeting other record holders in the US.

On the other hand, Jyoti Amge, an actress and media personality from India, has achondroplasia, a bone growth disorder affecting her arms and legs. Despite her small stature, she has made a big impact on social media and appeared on the TV series “American Horror Story: Freak Show” as Ma Petite. Amge has also been a guest on the Italian TV show “Lo Show Dei Record.”

Guinness World Records editor-in-chief Craig Glenday highlighted the importance of celebrating differences by bringing together these two iconic women. He emphasized that their meeting allows them to share their unique perspectives on life with each other and the world.

Both Gelgi and Amge have been named GWR ICONS, a new category introduced for the 2025 edition of the book. This recognition solidifies their status as inspirational figures in the world of record-breaking achievements.
