Strategy game: “Civilization 7” announced

In exciting news for gaming enthusiasts, developer Firaxis has announced the upcoming release of “Civilization 7” for PC and consoles in 2025. The announcement was made during the Summer Game Fest, where a render trailer showcasing the history of mankind, from desert caravans to rocket launches, was unveiled. While the video did not include gameplay footage, Firaxis has promised to reveal more details at a separate showcase in August. As of now, the studio has kept tight-lipped about the game’s content.

The predecessor to “Civilization 7,” titled “Civilization 6,” was released in 2016 and has seen regular updates and DLC packs over the years. Recently, Firaxis made “Civ 6” available for free on Epic Games, and it is currently priced at just €3 on Steam, a significant discount from its usual price of €60. Although some DLC packs are also on sale, they are not as heavily discounted as the base game.

While “Civ 6” received praise from long-time fans, some were critical of its abstract graphics style, particularly at launch. The game is not limited to PC players, as it is also playable on Xbox, Playstation, and the Switch, with mobile versions available since 2020 for tablet users.

The announcement of Civilization 7 at the Summer Game Fest was foreshadowed by an advertising banner on publisher 2K’s website prior to the event. Organizers had hinted at a new installment from a popular 2K franchise, leading to speculation among fans. Despite hopes for a “Bioshock” reveal, Firaxis had already teased a new ‘Civ’ spin-off earlier in 2023 without providing further details.

As anticipation builds for the release of “Civilization 7,” gamers eagerly await more information on this highly anticipated strategy game. Stay tuned for updates on gameplay, features, and release dates as Firaxis continues to unveil details about the upcoming title.
