A prisoner escaped from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami after complaining of chest pains, Miami-Dade Police reported. The prisoner, 36-year-old Theodric Collins, was being transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation on Saturday afternoon when he managed to escape while still in handcuffs.

After being cleared by medical staff around 2:25 p.m., the police officer was in the process of taking Collins to the MDPD Warrants Bureau when he escaped to a waiting silver Maserati with an Alabama license plate number GBT862. The vehicle fled the scene, and a License Plate Reader later detected the Maserati in Jupiter around 4 p.m.

Collins is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build. The authorities did not provide information on what he was last seen wearing. He was initially arrested for various felony warrants, and the search for him is ongoing.
