Midweek Weather Update: Warm and Windy Wednesday, Rain and Storms Incoming

news-30102024-134002

The weather in St. Louis has been warm and windy on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching a record high of 86 degrees at Lambert Airport. Wednesday is expected to be similar, with highs in the low to mid 80s.

However, a cold front is set to move in during the early morning hours of Thursday, bringing some much-needed rain to the region. Showers and thunderstorms are likely between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Halloween. Some of these storms could be strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts being the main concern. There is even a possibility of an isolated tornado. The western parts of the region will be at a higher risk for stronger storms.

By mid-morning on Thursday, the storms will move out of the area, leaving behind clearing skies and lighter winds in the afternoon. The colder air brought in by the rainfall will drop temperatures into the 60s on Thursday afternoon, with temperatures in the 50s for trick-or-treating in the evening.

Friday and most of Saturday will be dry and cooler, but there is a chance of more rain moving in on Saturday night and Sunday, as well as on Election Day Tuesday.

As a reminder, this weekend marks the end of Daylight Saving Time, so be sure to turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night.
