Mega Alakazam Pokémon GO Raid Guide: Weakness & Counters

Mega Alakazam is back in Pokémon GO Mega Raids from June 10 until June 19. This powerful Psychic-type Pokémon is one of the best Raid Attackers in its category so is well worth raiding for. Additionally, this is also a great chance to get a good IV Alakazam. You have to trade a Kadabra to get Alakazam in Pokémon GO. That makes getting the best possible IVs difficult. Grinding these Mega Raids will get you a much better chance at a 98% or even a 100% IV Alakazam.

Here is everything you need to take on this Mega Alakazam Raid in Pokémon GO.

Best Mega Alakazam counters in Pokémon GO:
**Mega Alakazam** has a weakness to **Dark**, **Bug** and **Ghost**-type moves. It has only two resistances, to **Fighting** and **Psychic**-types. Thankfully we have a lot of very powerful Dark, Bug and Ghost-type Pokémon to choose from. Here are the best Mega Alakazam counters in Pokémon GO:

– **Mega Tyranitar** (Bite & Brutal Swing)
– **Mega Gengar** (Lick & Shadow Ball)
– **Mega Banette** (Shadow Claw & Shadow Ball)
– **Mega Rayquaza** (Dragon Claw & Dragon Ascent)
– **Shadow Mewtwo** (Psycho Cut & Shadow Ball)
– **Mega Houndoom** (Snarl & Foul Play)
– **Hydregion** (Bite & Brutal Swing)
– **Tyranitar** (Bite & Brutal Swing)
– **Mega Alakazam** (Psycho Cut & Shadow Ball)
– **Mega Gyrados** (Bite & Crunch)
– **Origin Forme Giratina** (Shadow Claw & Shadow Force)
– **Chandelure** (Hex & Shadow Ball)

There are a lot of powerful Pokémon you can choose from when taking on this Mega Raid. Mega Gyrados has just been in Mega Raids itself, so a lot of Trainers will have one of those. Additionally, several of the other Mega Alakazam counters have appeared in Pokémon GO recently. Litwick spawns occasionally, we saw Origin Forme Giratina during Sinnoh Tour and Deino (evolving into Hydregion) has also featured in recent events. That means you should be able to get a team together to take on this Mega Raid in Pokémon GO.

Mega Evolutions to get you more Alakazam candy in Pokémon GO:
Mega Evolutions can help you get more candy and XL candy with every catch. Having a mega level 3 active that boosts candy for Psychic-types will give you an extra 2 candy per catch, as well as a 25% bonus to your XL candy chance. Here are the Pokémon you can Mega Evolve to get more Alakazam Candy in Pokémon GO:
– **Alakazam**
– **Latios**
– **Latias**
– **Rayquaza**

Mega Rayquaza is a good choice for this Raid. While not a direct counter to any of Mega Alakazam’s weaknesses, it deals so much damage. That combined with awarding you extra Candy after this Raid means you should try and run a Mega Rayquaza whenever you take on Mega Alakazam.

How many trainers do I need to beat Mega Alakazam in Pokémon GO?
Mega Alakazam doesn’t have a super high defence stat in Pokémon GO. That makes it slightly easier for Trainers to take down. You will need at least three Trainers (ideally with Party Power) to take on this Raid. Lower level Trainers or those without ideal counters should look for a group of six. Don’t forget that the faster you beat a Mega Raid in Pokémon GO, the more Mega Energy you get.

What is the Alakazam Pokémon GO 100% IV?
Getting a 100% IV Alakazam is especially impressive in Pokémon GO given the trade requirements to evolve it. So, keep an eye out for these CP values after the Mega Raid to know that you’ve got a rare 100% IV Alakazam:
– **1747 CP**
– **2184 CP (Weather Boosted)**

Weather Effects:
Weather boost can help you save candy, get better IVs and benefit from power boosts on your team. Here are the weather effects to keep an eye on when taking on these raids.
– **Windy**: The Mega Alakazam you encounter will be a higher CP. Mega Alakazam’s Psychic-type attacks will be boosted.

If you want a higher CP Mega Alakazam, keep your eye out for Windy weather in Pokémon GO. Stay tuned to esports.gg for the latest esports news and more Pokémon guides.
