A man from South Florida, David Knezevich, has been accused of murdering his estranged wife in Spain. This comes after previously being charged with kidnapping her when she went missing. The charges against him include kidnapping resulting in death, foreign domestic violence resulting in death, and foreign murder of a United States national. The indictment from the grand jury stated that Knezevich intentionally and maliciously killed the victim.

The victim, Ana Knezevich, was going through a difficult divorce with David when she disappeared from her apartment in Madrid on February 2nd. The couple had been married for 13 years and shared a home in Fort Lauderdale before things turned sour and she traveled to Europe. Ana’s parents received suspicious messages from someone claiming to be their daughter, saying she had met someone and would be out of touch.

Authorities were able to track David’s rental car to the location where Ana was staying in Madrid. It was believed that he was the person who had spray-painted her security cameras shortly before she went missing. Security footage showed David purchasing duct tape and the same brand of spray paint used on the cameras. Upon his return to the United States, he was arrested and initially charged with kidnapping. He has been in custody ever since.
