A man in Tamarac has been taken into custody following the tragic accidental shooting of his 6-year-old nephew. The Broward Sheriff’s Office revealed that Carika Hall, 25, was arrested in connection to the death of Odaine Hall, who was discovered with a gunshot wound in a residence near the 5600 block of Rock Island Road on September 30.

Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 3:30 p.m. after receiving reports, and they found the young child with a single gunshot wound. Despite efforts from BSO deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue, Odaine was pronounced dead at the scene.

Upon investigation, it was determined that the boy was under the care of his uncle, Carika Hall, at the time of the incident. It is believed that the child came across an unsecured firearm and tragically shot himself accidentally.
