A tragic incident took place at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing, a city in eastern China, where a knife attack by a 21-year-old male student named Xu resulted in the death of eight people and injuries to 17 others. According to the local police, the suspect was detained at the scene and it was revealed that he carried out the attack due to his dissatisfaction with failing exams and not being able to graduate, as well as his grievances about the pay at his internship.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. local time, and videos of the aftermath show injured individuals lying on the street as bystanders rushed to provide assistance. While Western social media platforms like X shared these videos, Chinese platforms like Weibo have been censored, only displaying the police statement regarding the attack.

This unfortunate event comes shortly after another deadly attack in Zhuhai, where a man drove his car into a crowd at a sports facility, resulting in 35 fatalities and 43 injuries. These incidents highlight a concerning trend of random attacks targeting members of the public in China.

In recent months, there have been several similar attacks across the country. In Beijing, a man was apprehended for attacking children with a knife at a school, leaving five individuals wounded. In Shanghai, three people lost their lives in a supermarket knife attack, with 15 others sustaining injuries. The suspect in this case was reportedly driven by personal financial disputes. Additionally, a Japanese schoolboy was fatally stabbed in Shenzhen while on his way to school.

These disturbing events underscore the importance of addressing mental health issues and grievances in a constructive manner to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future.
