Early Sunday morning in Tampa, Florida, a dangerous situation unfolded on Interstate 275 when a driver was spotted going the wrong way on the highway. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper noticed a Kia Sportage traveling northbound in the southbound lanes around 3:50 a.m.

The trooper took action and attempted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to halt. It wasn’t until a second PIT maneuver was executed that the Kia was finally brought to a stop, crashing into a wall in the process.

Following the incident, the woman driving the Kia was taken into custody and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. She now faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence with property damage, possession of a controlled substance, and leaving the scene of a crash.

Driving under the influence is a serious offense that not only endangers the life of the driver but also puts the lives of others on the road at risk. It is crucial for all drivers to make responsible decisions behind the wheel and never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of law enforcement officers in ensuring the safety of everyone on the road. It also highlights the swift actions taken by the Florida Highway Patrol to apprehend the reckless driver and prevent a potentially disastrous outcome.

As we move forward, let’s all remember to prioritize safety on the road and make responsible choices to protect ourselves and those around us. Stay informed with the latest news and updates by subscribing to our newsletter for important information delivered directly to your inbox.
