ChatGPT has taken a giant leap in its ability to provide effective responses to its user requests. From now on it will offer updated internet information and will not be limited to information prior to September 2021 as had happened since its premiere a few months ago, which greatly limited the scope of the service.
“ChatGPT can now navigate the Internet to provide you with up-to-date, authoritative information, complete with direct links to sources. “It is no longer limited to data prior to September 2021,” the official OpenAI account announced via X.
Additionally, they explain that “since the original launch of navigation in May” they have received “useful feedback” to improve the chatbot with options such as “identifying user agents so that pages can control how ChatGPT interacts with them.”
“Navigation is particularly useful for tasks that require up-to-date information, such as helping you with technical research, trying to choose a bike, or planning a vacation,” they highlight in the roadmap of updates.
In this sense, they remember that navigation “is currently available for Plus and Enterprise users” and that they will soon expand it to all users. To have it available, you have to browse with Bing, they point out from OpenAI.
The update promises to be a before and after for ChatGPT, which thus overcomes its biggest limitation and will now compete directly with traditional web search engines to offer up-to-the-minute information without date restrictions.
