Story Highlights:
Canon U.S.A. has announced the release of a forthcoming firmware update for several key models in its Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) line of cameras, including the CR-N700, CR-N500, CR-N300, CR-N100, CR-X300 PTZ cameras, RC-IP1000 controller, and the Remote Camera Control Application. This update will introduce a range of new features and enhancements to the supported cameras, with a notable introduction of a limited feature version of the Auto Tracking Add-On Application at no additional cost.

Enhanced Auto Tracking Features and Free Lite Version:
The update will bring improvements to the Auto Tracking Add-On Application, resulting in smoother and more natural pan-tilt movement, along with algorithm enhancements to ensure consistent tracking of subjects even when they intersect with others. Additionally, Canon will include a free lite version of the Auto Tracking Add-On application called Auto Tracking Lite, offering a similar auto tracking experience without some advanced customization options available in the paid version.

CR-N700 Color and Virtual Production Upgrades:
The firmware will enhance the CR-N700’s multi-camera capabilities by introducing Canon 709 / BT.709 Gamma/ Color Space support, G Gain support, and an expanded RGB pedestal range, simplifying color matching with other cameras. Virtual production will also benefit from increased Clear Scan frequencies, enabling compatibility with a wider range of LED walls and virtual environments.

Improved USB and Low Light Performance for CR-N100 and CR-N300:
The update will deliver significant enhancements to the CR-N100 and CR-N300, particularly in USB webcam mode, with higher frame rates and YUV format support for improved performance in the Corporate and Education sectors. These cameras, alongside the CR-X300, will also feature a new image mode to reduce noise in low light scenarios.

Enhanced Camera Control Experience:
Canon will enhance the PTZ camera control experience with increased Zoom and Focus steps, adjustments to preset movement speed curves, and the ability to set limits on Pan and Tilt Range of motion. These enhancements aim to provide users with smoother and more precise movement controls, catering to both experienced and novice users alike.

RC-IP1000 Controller Enhancements:
Updates to the RC-IP1000 controller will include support for the EOS C400 camera, external monitor display of Camera Multi-view, Preset / Trace list via HDMI and SDI, and the inclusion of Waveform, Vectorscope, Marker display, and Focus Guide on the controller screen. Additional features such as camera setting copying, Elgato Stream Deck support, and updated XC protocol for third-party control systems will enhance compatibility and functionality.

Remote Camera Control Application (RCCA) Enhancements:
The updated version of the Remote Camera Control Application (RCCA) for Windows and Macintosh operating systems will offer added functionality, including support for the EOS C400 camera and control of the Auto Tracking and Auto Loop PTZ Add-On Applications.
