Gregori Arzumanov, the former president of Turnberry on the Green Condominium in Aventura, has been facing serious charges related to financial crimes. He appeared in court dressed in orange, seeking to bond out of jail after weeks of being behind bars. The judge had to ensure that the money used for the bond did not come from the alleged crimes that landed Arzumanov in jail in the first place.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the bail money would be coming from Arzumanov’s step-daughter’s bank account rather than his own. This raised further questions about the financial dealings of the accused. Arzumanov is accused of embezzling over $1.5 million from the condo association and using the funds for personal expenses like artwork and airplane fuel for flight lessons.

Aventura Police Chief Michael Bentolila described Arzumanov’s actions as a complete takeover of not just the building but all assets associated with it. The investigation into Arzumanov’s activities has been ongoing for four years, culminating in his arrest at the condo lobby.

There have been additional concerns raised about a $15,000 check paid by the association to the law firm now representing Arzumanov in his criminal case. Arzumanov’s attorney, Sam Rabin, has stated that if any impropriety is found regarding the check, he is willing to refund the money.

Arzumanov pleaded not guilty to all charges, including racketeering, organized fraud, and money laundering. The judge confirmed that the necessary passports had been surrendered and allowed the bond to be posted. Arzumanov’s bond was set at $350,000, requiring him to pay $35,000 to secure his release.

The case involving Arzumanov highlights the serious consequences of financial crimes and the importance of thorough investigations to uncover illicit activities. It serves as a reminder of the need for transparency and accountability in financial transactions, especially in roles of authority and responsibility. As the legal proceedings continue, more details may emerge, shedding light on the extent of the alleged wrongdoing and its impact on the community.
