American Heritage Schools in Broward Campus, Plantation, Florida, organized a Thanksgiving meal drive to support those in need during the holiday season. The event, held on a Saturday morning, brought together students, families, and staff members who generously donated bags filled with essential items for a Thanksgiving dinner. Along with traditional food items, individuals also contributed gift cards for turkeys, ensuring that families would have a complete meal to enjoy.

The goal of this year’s drive was to collect 900 pounds of food, which would be used to feed approximately 1,000 families, totaling around 3,000 people. Marci Osheroff-Huffman, the vice president of American Heritage Schools Upper School Parent-Teacher Organization Broward Campus, expressed the importance of supporting the community during the holiday season.

The donated food items will be distributed by Feeding South Florida, an organization that serves over a million individuals across Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties. Ruth Bonet, a representative from Feeding South Florida, emphasized the significant impact of partnerships with organizations like American Heritage Schools in helping them reach those in need.

In the previous year, American Heritage Schools collected over 850 pounds of food for Feeding South Florida, showcasing the commitment of the school community to supporting local families during the holiday season. The collaboration between the school and Feeding South Florida highlights the importance of coming together to address food insecurity and support vulnerable populations in the community.

By organizing events like the Thanksgiving meal drive, American Heritage Schools demonstrate their dedication to giving back and making a positive impact on the lives of those in need. The support and generosity of students, families, and staff members contribute to creating a sense of community and compassion, especially during the holiday season.
