Team USA swimmer Carson Foster narrowly missed out on winning a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. As Foster raced towards the finish line, he was neck and neck with Japan’s Matsushita Tomoyuki, both reaching out to touch the wall. Ultimately, Tomoyuki touched the wall first, securing the silver medal by a margin of just four one-hundredths of a second.
Although Foster had to settle for the bronze, he was grateful to add to Team USA’s medal count. The 22-year-old swimmer will now turn his focus to the men’s 200-meter individual medley event in hopes of securing more medals for his country.
In the exciting final, French star Leon Marchand took home the gold medal, winning his first Olympic gold and setting a new Olympic record with a time of 4:02.95. Despite not breaking his own world record, Marchand’s performance was met with cheers from his home crowd.
