Connor Fields scored six goals and J.D. Colarusso made 19 saves as the No. 12 University at Albany men’s lacrosse team beat Drexel, 19-8, on Saturday in Philadelphia.

Fields, who also had four assists for the Great Danes (1-1), scored three times in the first half, and Colarusso made nine saves in the first 30 minutes.

In the third quarter, Fields scored his fourth and fifth goals within the first five minutes to increase the Danes’ lead to 11-4.

Adam Osika scored two fourth-quarter goals for UAlbany to help seal the win. Fields was the distributor in the fourth, setting up three teammates for goals.

Justin Reh finished with a hat trick for the Danes, and Sean Eccles and Osika each finished with a pair of goals and an assist.

UAlbany outshot the Dragons, 50-44, and dominated on draws, winning 21 of the 31 faceoffs. T.D. Ierlan won 19 of them and had a game-high 12 ground balls.

Joe Rainoldi had a hat trick for the Dragons (0-2).

UAlbany next plays at 3 p.m. Wednesday, when it plays host to Massachusetts at John Fallon Field.
