Top-seeded Ruud defeats Schwartzman in Argentina Open

Ruud said, “It feels very nice to have the trophy back into my hands.” He was the tournament’s top seeds and won his first professional title at the 2020 Argentina Open. Ruud is the No. 8 in the world.

Schwartzman, an Argentinian ranked No.1, attracted around 5,000 supporters to the court. Schwartzman, an Argentinian who is ranked No. 15 in the world, won the Argentina Open last year.

Schwartzman forced Ruud to win in the first set. From the second set on, Ruud’s power & precision won. Under the scorching sun, the match lasted 2 hours 34 minutes.

The Norwegian 23-year old has never lost at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club. He holds a record of 9 wins, 0 losses.

Ruud defeated Roberto Carballes Baena from Spain and Federico Coria and Federico Delbonis of Argentina to reach the final. Schwartzman defeated Jaume Munar from Spain, Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina and Sonego of Italy to reach the final in Buenos Aires.
