The 44th Zurich Barcelona Marathon got underway this Sunday with the participation of more than 15,000 runners, including a group of elite Africans who rank it among the top three in Europe.

For the third consecutive year, the same route has been maintained, starting from Avenida Maria Cristina and a circuit that runs through emblematic places in the city in a very fast test, with only 39 turns and a slight unevenness. Under the motto Run in the World’s Best City (Run in the best city in the world), the marathon has registered an increase of 5,000 runners compared to last year.

The marathon begins a new stage this year since World Athletics awarded it the Gold Label category in November, which only holds 40 marathons and half marathons of the 233 that will be held worldwide in 2023. The goal this year is to lower the current record of the test at 2:04:00 to continue being among the 10 fastest marathons in Europe.

The test alters or limits the route of two thirds of the TMB bus lines between approximately 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Therefore, the use of the metro is recommended in the morning and at noon this Sunday when traveling around the places where it will take place.

The 65 TMB bus lines affected are: D20, D40, D50, H6, H8, H10, H12, H14, H16, V1, V3, V5, V7, V9, V11, V13, V15, V17, V19, V21, V23, V25, V27, V29, V31, 6, 7, 11, 13, 19, 21, 22, 24, 27, 33, 34, 39, 46, 4, 54, 55, 59, 62, 63, 65, 67, 78, 79, 96, 97, 104, 109, 115, 120, 121, 122, 126, 133, 136, 141, the Red Route and the Blue Route of Barcelona Bus Turístic.
