Serena Williams’ late-night stroll turned into the match of a lifetime for two unsuspecting tennis players.
While walking with her beloved yorkie, Chip, on Sunday night in San Francisco’s Mission Dolores Park, the Australian Open champ stumbled upon two men playing against each other. Taking to Snapchat, Williams toyed with the idea of asking the unnamed amateurs if she could hit with them.
“I think they’re in the middle of playing out points, but I’m going to ask them if I can have the winner,” Williams shared with her social-media followers as an unseen man — apparently her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian — kept the camera trained on the 23-time grand slam champ.
Though Williams wasn’t sure if the players recognized her at first, they were taken by surprise once Williams and Chip made their way to the fence to meet them.
Ready to play, Williams tightened the laces of her boots — yes, boots — as she met her challengers.
“The moral of this story is, you never know when I’m going to be coming to a tennis court near you,” Williams teased.
