The Espanyol coach, Luis Miguel Ramis, was once again critical of his team’s play in its debut against Huesca and hoped that against Elche there would be an “evolution” that in his opinion should “be very great.” Espanyol comes into that match fifth in the standings and after accumulating four games without winning. It will be the first time that the team plays in the Stage Front since the dismissal of Luis García.

“The evolution has to be very great. We have had enough time to correct some game situations. We have to see many more things in the team, different from the other day. Let them express themselves with more calm, daring and confidence,” said the coach.

On his sincerity regarding his men’s performance, Ramis was clear. “In the locker room I am much more critical. We try to get the players to express themselves, to let go, to get infected. I have not come to deceive anyone, when I see it clearly I will say it and when I don’t, I won’t. At the moment there are five teams that are better than us so far,” he concluded.

And he continued by ensuring that he considers it “an obligation to react. That will make us closer to winning.” And there he made it clear that he doesn’t care how. “The teams above are practical. I want to see the evolution, but what I want is to win. If not, then let’s win and we’ll see the evolution next week. I don’t know if we will take 1,2 or 3 steps forward, hopefully it will be five,” he confessed.

Ramis also revealed that Javi Puado is a doubt for the match and that he will not be long-term absent. The forward suffered a sprain, which Ramis described as “a little thing.” Furthermore, he explained that Nico Melamed has chosen to try conservative treatment to cure his back discomfort before opting to undergo surgery, “which is always the last option. There is a consensus between the parties,” Ramis assured.
