Nagelsmann renews with the German team until the 2026 World Cup

The German soccer team has announced the renewal of Julian Nagelsmann until after the 2026 World Cup. The 36-year-old coach, who took office in September 2023, was one of the several options that Joan Laporta was considering to replace Xavi Hernández.

The coach joined the national team after the dismissal of Hansi Flick. With the German team, Nagelsmann signed until the end of Euro 2024, which is held in Germany, but the good results in the March window have led the German Football Federation to extend his contract for two more years.

Nagelsmann, who is the youngest coach to coach in the Bundesliga, has indicated his love for the national team: “This is a decision of the heart. It is a great honor to be able to coach the national team and work with the best players in the country. With “With successful and passionate performances we have the opportunity to inspire an entire country. We want to play together in a successful European Championship at home and I am looking forward to the challenge of a World Cup together with my technical team,” said the 36-year-old coach.

Rumors of his return to club football were continuous. Beyond his connection with Barça, Nagelsmann was also linked to his former club, Bayern, since Thomas Tuchel announced two months ago that he will leave the Munich team’s bench at the end of the season.
