Lawrence Taylor Arrested: NFL Legend Faces Sex Offender Charge

news-18072024-231603

Lawrence Taylor, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, surrendered to authorities in Florida and is facing a charge as a sex offender. The court records revealed that Taylor was charged with failing to comply with sex offender laws – a third-degree felony for an incident that occurred in Broward County on July 2. TMZ Sports was the first to report Taylor’s legal issues, and the 65-year-old former New York Giants linebacker was released from jail the following day.

Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, stated that his client would plead ‘Not Guilty’ to the charges, emphasizing that Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal offense and that it was a misunderstanding. The attorney expressed confidence that once the prosecutors review the evidence proving Taylor’s innocence, he will have a favorable outcome.

This recent charge is related to Taylor allegedly failing to report a change in name or residence. In 2011, Taylor pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute after accusations of engaging in sexual activities with a 16-year-old girl. Taylor claimed that the girl had told him she was 19 at the time. Additionally, in 2021, he was arrested for not reporting an address change, which his attorney referred to as a “mix up.” He pleaded no contest to a residency restriction for individuals convicted of specific sex offenses.

Lawrence Taylor played for the New York Giants from 1981 to 1993 and is a well-known figure in the football world. This recent legal issue adds to a series of past controversies surrounding the former player. Despite his successful career on the field, Taylor has faced challenges off the field, including legal troubles and personal issues.
