After a week of rest, Formula 1 arrives at the Circuit of the Americas, in the United States. It is the eighteenth round of the world championship that Max Verstappen has already won, in the drivers’ category, and Red Bull in the constructors’ category. We are in a new sprint weekend, so the schedules are altered again and the teams have their eye on the reliability of their components. The final stretch of the championship begins to wreak havoc, as happened to Carlos Sainz in Qatar, who could not participate in the race due to a fuel system failure.

With Verstappen already world champion, we have to keep an eye on the other drivers and in what positions they manage to finish the world championship. Sergio PĂ©rez remains second with 224 points and Lewis Hamilton is third with 194. He has 11 points ahead of Fernando Alonso (183 points) who had the goal of finishing the world championship ahead of his former teammate. Just 30 points below the man from Oviedo and in fifth position is his compatriot Carlos Sainz (153 points).

The Circuit of the Americas, designed by Hermann Tilke in collaboration with the American architecture firm HKS, had a somewhat rocky start. Despite the setbacks, Mario Andretti, 1978 F1 champion, opened the track on October 21, 2012.

That year he debuted in the ‘big circus’, and it was the first United States Grand Prix since the 2007 race in Indianapolis. As expected, more than 100,000 spectators filled the Austin venue, witnessing Lewis Hamilton’s last victory in a McLaren before his switch to Mercedes for 2013.
