The Reader Institute for Community Journalism (RICJ), which operates the Chicago Reader, is excited to announce the recent expansion of its leadership team.

Returning to weekly publishing in June and celebrating the Best of Chicago at Lincoln Park Zoo, announcing the first coffee table book, and celebrating 53 years at the third annual UnGala, the team has been busy. However, they are thrilled to announce the growth of their team.

The Reader remains committed to delivering thoughtful and thorough journalism for all of Chicago and is excited to embrace expansion as it aligns with the organization’s strategic goals.

Each new team member brings extensive experience, expertise, and knowledge that will help elevate the Reader’s impact through strengthened philanthropic efforts, innovative product offerings, and strategic operational growth.

Solomon Lieberman, CEO and Publisher of the Chicago Reader, expressed his excitement about the new additions to the team, stating, “We are thrilled to have each of these dynamic professionals aboard to take our organization to the next level. We’re ready to embrace the advancement of technology, deepen engagement with our communities thoughtfully, and position the Reader as the premier arts and culture publication in the city.”

Mary Eileen Weber, the Chief Revenue Officer, has deep roots in Chicago with a background in media sales, leadership roles, and digital marketing. Her goal is to develop innovative strategies that align with the Reader’s mission.

Ellen Kaulig, the Chief of Staff, brings a diverse background in film/TV production, the music industry, software development, business development, community organizing, and economic development to the team. Her unique experiences make her a valuable addition to the Reader.

The Chicago Reader is excited about the future with these new team members on board. Their dedication to providing meaningful journalism and cultural coverage to the vibrant city of Chicago is unwavering. With the expansion of the leadership team, the Reader is poised to continue its legacy as a legendary Chicago icon.
