Espanyol's campaign against animal abuse goes around the world

Espanyol has become news these days and not because of the fantastic role in the Hypermotion League, of which they are leaders, but because of a charitable cause that has gone around the world. Last Saturday night, October 14, the RCDE footballers jumped onto the pitch before their match against Valladolid with eleven abandoned dogs with the aim of helping these animals find a family.

With a campaign titled ‘Parakeets don’t abandon’, Espanyol remains committed to animal adoption and against abandonment. On his website, he reported that “all the club’s groups have been fully involved in this cause.” Among the different actions, the main one has been the departure of the players to the field of play accompanied by dogs from protectors from the Barcelona area: Life 4 Pitbulls, El Club de Kat and ProGolden Barcelona.

The club has also launched a promotion to encourage the collection of food and material and, therefore, anyone who buys the scarf and donates a blanket and food will receive a free ticket for the RCD Espanyol – Eibar match.

These initiatives have been applauded by the entire football world and have had a great impact in various countries. For example, in the United States, the North American media Bleacher Report has shared on its Twitter profile, which has more than seven million followers, the video where the Espanyol players are seen jumping onto the Stage Front Stadium grass with the dogs. . The official FIFA Twitter account in Spanish, which has more than four million fans, has also echoed the gesture of the parakeet team.

Other leading newspapers such as Diario Olé, one of the most followed in Argentina, Ecuavisa, an Ecuadorian media with more than two million followers, or the Peruvian television channel Golperu have also highlighted the social work carried out by Espanyol with this initiative.
