A Delta Air Lines flight carrying the Carolina Panthers slid off the runway in Charlotte, North Carolina, after the team’s preseason game against the New England Patriots. The flight, Delta Flight 8860, landed at Charlotte Douglas International Airport around 2:30 a.m. and skidded off the runway into the mud. The plane was transporting players, coaches, and staff members of the Panthers organization. Fortunately, all 188 passengers on board were unharmed in the incident, as confirmed by Delta in a statement.

The Panthers had just played their first preseason game of the 2024 NFL season against the Patriots, which they lost 17-3 at Gillette Stadium. Most of the starters did not play in the game, with only a few key players getting some action on the field. This game also marked the debut of the Panthers’ new head coach, Dave Canales.

Coach Canales expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the rookies and less experienced players in the game, emphasizing the learning opportunity it provided for them. He also highlighted the importance of communication and the experience gained for himself as a new head coach.

The Panthers are scheduled to face the New York Jets in their next preseason game on August 17. Despite the minor incident with the flight, the team is focused on their upcoming games and the preparation for the regular season ahead.
