Controversial draw for Real Sociedad in Mallorca

Mallorca and Real Sociedad have tied (1-1) this Sunday in the match corresponding to the twenty-fifth day of the Santander League played at the Son Moix stadium. The San Sebastian team took the lead with a goal from Carlos Fernández in the first half, but the Mallorcan team tied in the second period through the South Korean Kang In Lee.

The blue and white team ended the clash with ten players due to the expulsion of Mikel Merino (min. 89), who saw the direct red card for a stomp on Abdón Prats.

Mallorca has lost steam in its talisman stadium, where it has added more than half (21) of the points it has in its locker (32), after the draw (1-1) against a Real Sociedad that appeared in Son Moix two days after losing to Roma in the Europa League and losing Mikel Merino, sent off with a direct red card in the 89th minute for stomping on Abdón Prats.

The two teams presented themselves with casualties, forced in the cases of the Kosovar striker Vedat Muriqi, suspended, and the Slovak central defender Martín Valjent, injured, in Mallorca; and due to a technical decision by Real, which left the Japanese Take Kubo on the bench until the final stretch of the game.

The point is insufficient for the team led by Mexican Javier Aguirre, who faced the clash after two straight defeats (Espanyol and Elche); perhaps it is also the case for Imanol Alguacil’s ‘txuri-urdin’, immersed in the fight for a place in the Champions League.

Mallorca must start worrying about the rivals that precede them if they want to stay in the mid-temperate zone of the table. Son Moix is ??no longer a fort where Atlético de Madrid, Valladolid, Celta, Real Madrid and Villarreal fell consecutively.

In the last two days, 4 of the 6 points at stake have flown from the Mallorca stadium, a circumstance that is beginning to cause concern within Majorcanism

Mallorca went out onto the pitch asleep and in the first minutes the San Sebastian team took advantage of one of the two very clear chances they had to take the lead on the scoreboard.

First, Mikel Oyarzábal, the starter after his substitution against Roma in the Europa League, warned, and then Carlos Fernández scored the 0-1 with a low shot that hit the left post of the Serbian Predrag Rajkovic’s goal.

All this, before the passivity of the Majorcan defense and the anger of Aguirre in the band.

Forced to react, Mallorca advanced their lines. He lacked, however, ideas to create danger against the goal of Alejandro Remiro, required only at the end of the first half with a shot from Tino Kadewere, a substitute for Muriqi, which hit the side of the net, and a header from central Antonio Raillo, also diverted.

At the restart, Javier Aguirre rectified, bringing on Abdón Prats and Amath Ndiayé to change the drawing to a 4-4-2, and so did his team, more dynamic, believing more, until they evened the score through Kang In Lee.

The South Korean took advantage of a slip by Jon Pacheco to dribble past Remiro and score an empty goal before the delirium in the stands.

The clash, broken at times, entered a phase of continuous attacks in both areas between two teams that were not satisfied with a draw.

The referee annulled a goal by Frenchman Robin Le Normand, understanding that he leaned on Ruiz de Galarreta when he scored with a header, in an action that was much discussed by the visitors, although it was also endorsed by the VAR.

With Ángel, a striker, replacing Dani Rodríguez, a midfielder, Mallorca finished the match with three points in search of victory, against a Real that sought the three points with Mohamed Ali Cho and Take Kubo, substitutes for Oyarzabal and Dani Silva.

The Balearic team caressed victory with a shot from Amath Ndiayé that crashed into the posts, the people from San Sebastian also had chances, but the score remained 1-1.
