We are just one day away from crowning the champions of college rodeo for 2024 at the CNFR. The fourth and final performance round had some thrilling moments that set the stage for an exciting conclusion.
The atmosphere at the Ford Wyoming Center was electric as the cowboys and cowgirls gave it their all in their last chance to make it to the short round. Ty Pope kicked off the night with a bang, scoring the highest in the bareback event with a 79.5. This secured his spot in the short round. Bodie Mattson from Wyoming impressed in the tie-down roping event with a time of 8.8 seconds, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to advance.
Falyn Thomson stood out in the breakaway roping, completing the task in just 2 seconds and securing a spot in the short round. Gus Gaillard shined in the saddle bronc event with a score of 78.5, putting him in the lead overall heading into the championship round.
Cord Gomes had the fastest time of the day in steer wrestling, finishing in 4.4 seconds. Cheyenne Van Stouwe also had a strong performance with a time of 6.2 seconds. Brody Webb and Clay Hayden dominated the team roping event with a time of 7.2 seconds.
In barrel racing, Tayla Moeykens took the top spot with a time of 13.70, setting herself up for a chance at the title in the final round. Jesse Hopper impressed in bull riding, scoring 77 points to end the night on a high note.
