Celta de Vigo reported this Friday that it has reached “a principle of agreement” with Rafa Benítez so that the man from Madrid is the coach of his first team for the 2023-24 season, in which he will celebrate his centenary, and two more.
“Rafa Benítez is one of the most successful coaches in the history of our country and has directed world-class teams in the main European leagues: Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC, Real Madrid CF, Inter Milan, Naples, Newcastle United FC , Valencia CF and Everton FC, among others”, highlights the Galician club in its statement.
Rafa Benítez, who was without a team after being sacked in January 2022 by Everton, accumulates a total of 1,099 games and numerous titles: Champions League, UEFA Cup, Spanish League, Italian Cup, Europa League, among others. .
Celta also stresses that both parties are confident that the signing of the contract will take place “next July” coinciding with the start of the team’s pre-season at the Afouteza sports complex.
