The Spanish Carolina Marín added a new gold medal to her record by defeating the Danish Mia Blichfeldt in the badminton final of the European Games 21-15 and 21-14 in 1 hour and 12 minutes of play.
Marín, Olympic champion, three-time world champion and six times European champion, adds a new milestone by winning the gold medal at the European Games.
In the first set, the Spanish had a better staging that resulted in a 6-1, although the Danish reacted and came to take the lead, 11-12. Blichfeldt came to tie at 15, at which time the Spanish chained a 6-0 run to win 21-15.
In the second round, the Danish came out very strong and dominated until 6-9, which was the signal for the Spanish champion to raise her level of play. After a phase of equality in the score, 12-12, Carolina Marín once again scored a devastating 9-2 run, which gave her the victory and the gold medal of the Games.
