Fans of Athletic Club de Bilbao and Real Mallorca have taken to the streets of Sevilla’s center for tonight’s Copa del Rey final at La Cartuja stadium. The streets have been dyed red with a greater visible presence of the fans of the red-and-white club than vermillion. Thousands of fans of both teams have gathered in the Andalusian capital, so a special security, cleaning and mobility device has been set up. The heat along with the enthusiasm of both fans to win the long-awaited trophy are marking a day in which bars and restaurants in the city center are packed.
Two areas have also been set up for fans of each of the teams on the island of La Cartuja. Thus, in the case of Athletic, their followers have the Banderas lot, close to the Torre Sevilla Shopping Center, which opened its doors at ten in the morning. For their part, Mallorca fans have their meeting point at Parque del Alamillo, which also opened at ten in the morning.
Regarding the security device, more than 1,600 agents from the National Police and the Civil Guard, along with 200 local police officers, make up the device designed by the Government Subdelegation in Seville, in coordination with the City Council, to ensure security during the moments before and after the game.
In this sense and given the massive arrival of fans, deployment has been reinforced at the Seville-San Pablo airport and at the Sevilla Santa-Justa railway station.
