Anchor Drop, June 8, 2024: 84 Days to Kickoff
Good morning.
We are now 84 days — 12 weeks — away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against Virginia Tech. 84 for the Commodores is wide receiver Jeremiah Dillon. The 6’1”, 181-pound redshirt sophomore from Tylertown, Mississippi, spent his first two years of college at Ole Miss and didn’t see the field, but he’s a former four-star recruit.
A couple of quick recruiting updates: football landed a commitment from Gabe Fields, a running back from St. Joseph, Missouri; baseball landed its first portal acquisition of the offseason in the person of right-handed pitcher Cody Bowker, who spent the last two seasons at Georgetown.
Not really a lot else going on. Except super regionals, which… we’re not part of. I don’t know, watch golf or something. Or more World Cup qualifiers on FIFA+, parlagi, today is Gambia-Seychelles. And apparently MLB is attempting to wreck American foreign relations with the U.K. by sending them Phillies and Mets fans.
