The Government will approve the creation of a Climate Change Observatory in the Council of Ministers this Tuesday. Teresa Ribera, Vice President and Minister for the Ecological Transition, has been the one who has announced it within the framework of the Europe Forum.
The objective, explained the minister, is to improve the current citizen alert system and prevent heat waves and the effects of climate change. To carry out this task, three ministries will be involved: the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Health.
The announcement has come when Spain is going through the third heat wave of this summer and a few days before the general elections. That is why the minister has taken the opportunity to express her concern about the entry of a party like Vox into the Spanish political scene, which “is a denier of climate change and takes science as a joke and, therefore, does not consider that there is any problem”. with climate change.
Ribera has criticized that Vox “encourages ill will against those who alert and seek to solve the problem.” In addition, he regretted that the PP is in the same line, a party that he described as “irresponsible” for this behavior in relation to climate change, which is behind the rise in temperatures and heat waves and for putting impediments “in Brussels or in Strasbourg against the measures of the European green pact whose purpose is to fight climate change.”
