Storm Dorothea says goodbye after leaving wind, precipitation and snow in much of the country. A respite that will last little, because this Thursday the entry of a new front is expected, which will mainly affect the northwest of the peninsula. It will not be the only one, because from Friday other fronts are expected to arrive, which will lengthen the winter weather of the last few days.
According to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), today the entry and passage of a front from the northwest is expected to increase cloudiness in the center and north of the peninsula.
It will leave rainfall at first in the northwest, which will spread throughout the day to the rest of the extreme north. They are not ruled out, in a weaker and more dispersed form, in other areas of the interior of the peninsula, without affecting the southwest and the Mediterranean area, where it will be slightly cloudy.
Maximum temperatures will increase in the eastern half of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, and will decrease in the northwest. The minimums will tend to decrease in the northern third. Only weak frosts will occur in mountain areas of the northern and southeastern half of the peninsula, the northern plateau and the east of the southern plateau, more intense in the Pyrenees, the agency continues.
Looking ahead to Friday, March 1, the entry and passage of another front is expected in the northwest third, which will leave abundant rainfall in Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, accompanied by storms on the Cantabrian coasts and with snow accumulations of five centimeters in the mountains in the west of the Cantabrian.
From that day on and heading into the weekend, temperatures will tend to drop across the board, so the frosts will gain in intensity and extent, affecting a good part of the interior of the northern and eastern halves of the peninsula.
On Saturday a new front will enter from the northwest that will leave rainfall as the day progresses, from northwest to southeast without affecting the Mediterranean coast. The rains will continue on Sunday, although they will be concentrated in Galicia, the Cantabrian Mountains, Andalusia and the Balearic Islands.
