Spain will experience a very hot episode with temperatures “more typical of the end of June than mid-April” due to the arrival of a mass of warm air and the presence of high pressure, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). .
This rise could be up to 15 degrees more than normal for the time in some areas of the country. The 34 that will be reached in the Canary Islands in the next few hours stand out, the agency continues.
This increase in temperatures will begin this Thursday. The thermometers will rise and they will do so “in a notable way” in the north of the Peninsula and the Canary Islands, with maximum temperatures that will be “between 5 to 8 degrees higher than those of the previous day.” There will be several exceptions, in the southeast of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, due to the arrival of winds from the sea.
For Friday, the agency’s spokesperson, Rubén Del Campo, predicts clear skies throughout Spain, with a practically total absence of rain and the haze will continue in the Canary Islands. Thermometers will rise in the north of the Peninsula, in the east and in the Balearic Islands, while they will fall somewhat in the south of Andalusia.
Specifically, the extreme north and large areas of the interior will exceed 25 degrees. Some will even be close to 30: Valencia, Pamplona, ??Valladolid or Teruel (27); Bilbao and Oviedo (28). The warmest capital on the Peninsula on Friday could be Ourense, with 30 degrees.
According to the Aemet forecast, a particularly warm weekend is expected. Specifically, daytime values ??will be “between 5 and 10 degrees above normal in the southern half and in the Balearic Islands and between 10 and 15 degrees above normal in the northern half.”
Not only will it be hot during the day, but “night temperatures will also be warm for the season, but not as marked as daytime temperatures” with values ??between 5 and 10 degrees above normal.
