Spain says goodbye to Storm Juan and welcomes an anticyclone that promises to completely change the weather outlook for the week. After days of heavy rain and snowfall in high areas, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has announced a 180-degree turn in the weather. So the stars of the next few days will be clear skies and temperatures that could exceed 25ºC.
The week will begin with stability, which implies a notable decrease in the probability of rain. However, Aemet does not completely rule out the possibility that, towards the end of the week, a cloud front will appear, especially in the northwest of the peninsula. This possible incursion does not seem, however, to significantly alter the forecast for a mostly sunny week.
The Aemet has warned that this change will not provide the rainfall so typical of the season. In fact, the sun will be the best ally for most of the autonomous communities, although not everything will be clear and cloudless. For those who are not satisfied with a uniform blue sky, there will be low morning clouds, especially in the Ebro, northeastern depressions, Galicia and the Strait.
As for temperatures, Meteored has predicted that the mercury could rise to unseasonably high levels. Temperatures could reach and even exceed the 25ºC barrier, which would be a record for this time of year in Spain.
This change not only marks the end of the recent adverse conditions, but also brings with it a less favorable scenario for precipitation, something crucial at this time when many areas of the country are suffering from having low water levels.
Therefore, the scenario that is drawn is, in a way, one of calm after the storm. Heavy rain and snowfall, especially pronounced in the high areas of the country, have been a constant in recent days. But that stage is closing, giving way to an atmospheric calm that, although welcome, does not fail to generate some concern due to the absence of the rains that are so characteristic and necessary for the season.
