Barcelona has designed some thirty actions to improve the Barcelona side of the Collserola Natural Park. The initiative is added to other interventions already completed, such as the preparation of two plans for fire prevention that will allow improvements to be made both in the facilities for this purpose and in the cleaning areas.
Among the measures already carried out, it is worth mentioning the renovation of the Finestrelles viewpoint and the replacement of the Parc del Laberint fence with a new one, more integrated into the landscape, which prevents wild boars from entering this historic enclosure. Controlled grass on the Barcelona side of the park and the agricultural contract have also been promoted.
Among the future actions, the project for the restoration and historical recovery of 18 fountains and their surroundings located in the districts of Sarrià -Sant Gervasi, Nou Barris and Horta-Guinardó stands out, as well as the installation of new information points and digital panels in the park entrances.
Up to 2027, around thirty new actions have been planned to improve and energize the Barcelona side of Collserola. Seven have already been carried out and the rest of the projects are expected to be carried out in the coming years.
The mechanical cleaning of the fire protection strips is being carried out, which involves the annual cleaning of 164.70 hectares located around the urban centers in contact with Collserola and 106.14 hectares that are maintained biannually . In addition, specific cleanings are carried out that improve the management of biodiversity and help to contain the approach of wild boars to the urban environment.
Among the projects already completed, in addition to the adaptation of the Finestrelles viewpoint, in Les Corts, and the replacement of the fence of the Laberint park, the Arrabassada viewpoint, in the Horta district, has been closed to vehicles Guinardó
In 2023, the aim is to continue the pasture on the Barcelona side of the park in order to clean up the area’s vegetation cover, and the agrarian contract will be promoted again with contributions that allow the granting of subsidies in order to recognize and compensate the task that farmers and ranchers do.
Another of the planned actions is the renovation and historical and environmental recovery of the fountains located in the park with an estimated budget of 1,179,750 euros, from the Next Generation Funds.
Specifically, the following fountains in the Sarrià -Sant Gervasi district will be renovated: Mas Gumbau, Santa Creu, Casa CastellvÃ, Rosita, Budellera, Maduixera, Santa Bárbara, Can Calopa, Sant Tomà s and the Funicular.
In Horta-Guinardó, the fountains of Can Llong (La Manya), the Marquesa, the Llet, Sant Cebrià and the fountains and mines of the Laberint de Horta will be restored. And in Nou Barris, the fountains of Canyelles Vella, Santa Eulà lia and Alba.
Other planned actions are the installation of new information points around the headquarters of the Collserola Park consortium and the Pla dels Maduixers and digital information panels at the entrances to the park.
Improvements will also be carried out in the surroundings of the Vallvidrera stream and repair works on Torrent dels Arcs and other actions are planned, such as the renovation of various sections of the Paseo de las Aigúes, the construction of a raft for amphibians at the Finestrelles viewpoint and the restoration of various farms located in the Font del Lleó. Likewise, the surroundings of Vil•la Joana and Can Soler will be renovated and a landscape route will be configured above the Ronda de Dalt called Camà dela Mitja Cota, to improve communication between the mountain neighbourhoods.
Along the same lines, hydrological and drainage improvements will be implemented at the meeting points of streams and torrents with the urban system.
All these actions are part of the strategic lines of the Special Plan for the Protection of the Natural Environment and Landscape of the Serra de Collserola Natural Park (PEPNat).
