The second vice president and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, announced this Friday that the medals for Merit at Work from the former president of the CEOE Gerardo Díaz Ferrán and the banker Julio Fernández Gayoso will be withdrawn immediately.
During his speech in the Senate, Díaz explained that in the current climate we must “eliminate any complicity with corruption, including recognition of those who practice it and commit crimes.”
In this sense, he has announced that the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy will proceed, immediately, to withdraw the medals for Merit at Work from people “who are far from having the exemplarity on which a distinction is based.” of that magnitude”.
As examples, he has given the cases of Gerardo Díaz Ferrán, former president of the CEOE or Julio Fernández Gayoso who captained NovacaixaGalicia. Both have final convictions for different crimes, he said.
