Aleix Puig, co-founder and current president of Vicio, a restaurant chain specializing in smash burgers that is studied as a model of success in the delivery sector due to its exponential growth, presented the latest innovation on Thursday: Vicio Urgell Store ( Comte d’Urgell, 204), a 500 m2 place with two floors, with an interior designed by the Externa Reference studio, which opened yesterday and where customers (capacity is 110 diners) can eat hamburgers while watching the they prepare in the open kitchens. It is the second of his Barcelona premises where you can eat (the first, a delivery hybrid with a small dining area, is at Via Augusta, 21).

Puig reviewed the origins during the pandemic of this business that he opened with his partner, Oriol de Pablo Morató, in a simple garage in Sants, and explained the moment of expansion they are in: of the 24 premises they now have throughout Spain, they plan to add 15 more next year and go from the current 700 workers to 1,200. The young entrepreneur, who became famous by winning one of the editions of Master Chef, made it clear that of the many challenges they continue to have, “because we feel that, despite such rapid growth, we have everything to do”, the most it is important not to lose the culture of the company. Puig also pointed out that Barcelona is the city where Vicio was born and that’s why they wanted to open a place of reference there, and he wanted to show that you can also start a business from here and be a reference and inspiration in other countries.
