The general secretary of Junts per Catalunya, Jordi Turull (Parets del Vallès, 1966), is recovering favorably from a second intervention that was performed on him this Wednesday morning.
On Monday, the independence leader suffered a heart attack, according to the political group he leads, and an emergency catheterization was performed on him at the Bellvitge University Hospital. He felt bad during a training meeting with local cadres.
After this second operation, the former Parish Councilor is well and immersed in a recovery process. Various JxCat leaders, such as former president Carles Puigdemont, have thanked the expressions of affection and support received in recent hours.
Turull has held the general secretariat of post-convergent training since June 2022, when the Argelès-sur-Mer congress (France) was held. The leader took the reins of the party after the resignation of Puigdemont and Jordi Sànchez and shared the leadership with the president of the party, Laura Borràs.
Although he has no public office, since he remains disqualified for his role in the preparations for 1-O, Turull is one of Junts’ regular negotiators with the PSOE and was negotiating the Amnesty law with the socialists. He also participated in the conversations with Ferraz for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez and is part of the negotiation process that both parties carry out outside Spanish territory in the presence of an international verifier.
