King Juan Carlos has had to return to the Sanxenxo marina and abandon his plan to train in the Pontevedra estuary when, earlier than announced by the weather forecast, the rain has made an appearance in Galicia. Armed with appropriate clothing and ready to weather the storm, Juan Carlos I’s ship, like the Navy of his ancestor Felipe II, has not been able to withstand the elements.

Shortly after 11 in the morning this Friday, King Juan Carlos appeared at the access to the jetties of the yacht club, sitting in the passenger seat of the car driven by his friend and host, Pedro Campos. As he has done since he arrived in Galicia last Wednesday, he has waved to the media who were waiting for his arrival without slowing down and heading directly to the Bribón dock. Although the forecasts announced rain starting at noon, the storm has come forward and the king and his crewmates have barely been at sea for an hour. They have coasted the estuary in front of Sanxenxo and have returned to port.

Since he arrived in Sanxenxo, King Juan Carlos has followed the same routine: from Pedro Campos’ house to the yacht club and from the yacht club to Pedro Campos’ house. There are no planned departures, nor meetings beyond the crewmates.

The discretionary slogan is strictly adhered to and the intention of King Juan Carlos is to earn the right to return to Galicia or any other point in Spain by demonstrating that he complies with the commitment to avoid showing off in public, without this meaning that he is hiding. The King’s father intends to recover the style of his stays in Sanxenxo from a few years ago, when he could go days without the media noticing his stay. Normalizing the situation is his purpose and, at least, so far he is succeeding.
