Blanca Martín Delgado, from the Socialist Group, will once again occupy the position of president of the Assembly of Extremadura in this XI Legislature.
Martín has received 32 votes, the 28 deputies from his group and the four from United for Extremadura, while the PP candidate, Abel Bautista, has obtained 28, the same number of seats that his parliamentary group has, and that of Vox, Ángel Pelayo Gordillo Moreno the one of the five deputies that his group has.
In this way, the socialist will occupy the position for the third consecutive legislature, after a constitutive session of the Assembly of Extremadura to which PP and Vox have reached without a closed agreement for the formation of an alternative government to that of the socialist Guillermo Fernández Vara.
It should be remembered that the PP candidate for the Presidency of the Board offered this past Monday to Vox, whose votes he needs to reach the 33 seats that make up an absolute majority, a programmatic agreement that included the presidency of the regional parliament for the party of Santiago Abascal .
Proposal that has been rejected by Vox, which demands to enter the regional government, following the agreement formula reached in other parts of the country, as is the case of the Valencian Community.
The election has been carried out, in accordance with the regulations of the Chamber, by name and secret by means of ballots. In the first ballot, the socialist candidate has obtained 32 votes, which add up to the 28 of her group and United for Extremadura, while the PP candidate and the Vox candidate have obtained the same number as their own deputies.
As the majority of 33 seats was not reached, a second vote was held, which finally yielded the same result, but in accordance with the Chamber’s regulations, the candidate from the party with the majority of support was appointed.
