The PSOE redirects the attacks on Armengol towards the PP for letting the mask claim expire

“The only thing the judge is investigating in what is known as the Balearic branch is the current PP government because he suspects that the company pressured him and managed to make the claim initiated in March by the Armengol government expire.” The PSOE has gone on the attack against the “smear campaign” launched by the Popular Party against the president of the Congress of Deputies, redirecting it towards those of Alberto Núñez Feijóo. Specifically towards the Balearic government of Marga Prohens (PP).

After seeing how the PP spokesperson, Miguel Tellado, has placed Armengol as an “alleged necessary collaborator” in the “scam” that the Koldo plot carried out in the Balearic Islands with the purchase of masks by the Government, sources from the Socialist Party argue that the popular ones are “overacting.”

First to try to cast a shadow of doubt on President Armengol, who “cannot defend herself” in the same way as the rest of the deputies because she is the third authority in the State. And, consequently, to “cover any doubts” about the possible involvement of the popular in the plot. “The latest is this smear campaign based on expressing alleged suspicions that the judge does not contemplate, decontextualizing administrative documents and attributing them to the president and generating a climate of tension and then saying that she must leave out of decorum,” they lamented.

For all these reasons, the PSIB spokesperson in Parliament, Iago Negueruela, has gone to the Congress of Deputies to “document”, report by report, the legality of the 3.7 million euro contract denounced by the PP. And with this, explain the controversy sparked from Genoa by the fact that the purchased material was parked in a warehouse unused.

Whoever was Armengol’s right-hand man has first justified the execution of the sale with the company Soluciones de Gestión because, at that time and without any hint of what would result in the Koldo plot, he enjoyed “complete reliability” because it was the Ministry of Public Works who was behind and facilitated contact.

Continuing with his presentation, the IbSalud technicians quickly detected that the material was of worse quality than the contracted one. That instead of being FFP2-KN95 masks, the material received were surgical masks (as can be seen in the purchase order that accompanies this information). That is, for non-hospital use.

Despite this, the Balearic Government decided to store it. First, in case, given the supply crisis, at some point it would have to be used due to lack of stock of better quality material. And, later, because this storage would allow – as the outgoing Executive chaired by Armengol ended up executing – to initiate the formal claim for the economic difference after having paid for a higher quality than that received.

The start of the claim process took place several weeks before the May 2023 elections, which in Negueruela’s opinion already overturns one of the accusations made by the PP who says that they did not claim until they knew that the PP won the elections.

For this reason, and emphasizing that neither the Anti-Corruption Office, nor the Intervention nor the Prosecutor’s Office found any indication of irregularities, Armengol’s collaborator places all the doubts and suspicions of the Koldo plot on the current Balearic president, Marga Prohens, accusing her of letting her expire. the claim period so that, in this way, the plot would not have to return the money. His accusation is based on the Civil Guard recording that appears in the car and through which Koldo García certifies to his interlocutors that “everything is done.”

For the PSIB spokesperson, technical documents from the Health Service are being decontextualized and Armengol is being “held responsible for the exchange of documentation between officials.”
